A solar battery stores the power your panels make during the day so you can use it at night, instead of sending it back to the grid for a small feed-in tariff and buying it back later at full retail rates. As feed-in tariffs keep falling across South Australia, that daytime surplus is worth far more kept in a battery than sold.
There is no off-the-shelf kit here. We start with how your household lives: when you cook, run the air conditioning, heat water, and how much solar you already generate or plan to add. From there we size the battery to your real usage, not a round number on a brochure. Some homes are better served by a smaller battery that shifts the evening peak; others want enough storage to ride through most of the night and keep essential circuits alive in a blackout. We will tell you straight which one your numbers point to.

How a battery pays back
A battery earns its keep two ways. First, self-consumption: every stored kilowatt-hour you use at night is a kilowatt-hour you did not buy from the grid at retail price. The bigger the gap between what you are paid to export and what you pay to import, the faster that adds up. Second, rebates and incentives now take a meaningful slice off the upfront cost (see below), which shortens payback again.
We will not quote you a savings figure we cannot stand behind. Payback depends on your tariff, your usage pattern and the size of your system, so we model it against your actual bills before you commit. If a battery does not stack up for your situation yet, we will tell you that too.
Rebates that reduce the upfront cost
Battery storage in South Australia is currently supported by the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program, which takes roughly 30% off the cost of an eligible installed battery from 1 July 2025 (about $250 to $270 per usable kWh in 2026, on the first 14 kWh of usable capacity), and the SA Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS) with a virtual power plant incentive worth up to about $2,050 through participating VPP operators. To qualify, the system must be installed by an accredited installer using approved components, which is exactly what B.E Electrical Solar & Battery is (SAA S7741141, CEC A1944620). Blackout backup for rural properties
If you are on a long rural feeder around the Yorke Peninsula or Mid-North, you already know the grid can drop out in a storm. A battery with backup capability keeps nominated circuits, lights, fridge, internet, a water pump, running through an outage instead of leaving you in the dark.
